68Colorado State Income Tax Forms
The Colorado Department of Revenue does require taxpayers to pay annual state income tax forms. The individual tax form that should be used for Colorado taxpayers is Form 104.
Individual Income Tax
The current income tax in Colorado is 4.63%. If you have either worked or resided for any part of the calendar year in Colorado then you will need to file an income tax return.
The State of Colorado also offers some tax incentives. The most common are:
- Pension/Annuity Credit
- Military Pension Credit
- Tuition Programs
- Government Interest
- Child Care Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Alternative Fuel Vehicle Credit
The State offers three different ways to file. You may netfile, telefile or e-file your return.
E-Filing
Form 104 is available online. The Colorado Department of Revenue recommends e-filing your return to receive your refund as quickly as possible. We suggest using an online preparation tax service such as TurboTax Online. Filing online will also allow you to make an immediate payment if you have taxes due. This will help you avoid any penalty or late charges.
If you live in Colorado and would like to e-file, the state requires you to meet the following:
- You must either be a full or part time resident of Colorado
- You may e-file if you are itemizing or just claiming the standard deduction
- You can either have a complex or simple return

Why do you not mail tax forms to people? The IRS does. Just tell them what you need and they arrive in the mail. Why not COLORADO?
