What Form Should I Use?
If you are a resident individual of Mississippi then you will be required by the Mississippi State Tax Commission using Form 80-105.
If you would like to claim credits then you should use Form 80-492.
If you owe state income tax in more than just the state of Mississippi then you should use Form 80-160.
If you are only a part-time resident or a non-resident then you should use Form80-180.
Who Should File?
- You should file a Mississippi income tax return if you meet any of the following requirements:
- You have had state income tax held from your wages or any type of gambling winnings.
- You have income that was taxed but you are either a part-time resident or a non-resident of the state.
- You are a permanent resident of the state but you are employed in another country.
- You are a permanent resident of Mississippi but you are currently working in another state.
- Your single annual income exceeds $8,300.00.
- Your married annual income exceeds $16,000.00

Should I Itemize?
You should only itemize if your itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction that is offered. If you are single then the standard deduction is $2,300.00. If you are married filed jointly then the standard deduction is $4,600.00.
